Nearly three decades of newborn care
Moalie was founded by Daniëlle Kempers, a neonatal nurse and baby coach who has cared for newborns and their families for nearly three decades. Not as a background detail, but as daily, hands-on work: watching how babies settle, how they keep warm, how they move — and what parents actually need in those first fragile weeks.
That experience is where Moalie began, and it still shapes every decision: how a garment supports temperature and freedom of movement, how it feels on delicate skin, and how it works in the hands of a tired parent at three in the morning.
Early in her career, Daniëlle spent many months as the primary nurse of a little boy named Bayram. When it became clear that he would not get better, she kept coming back — often in her own time — to be with him and his family through his final weeks.
An older colleague told her: "After twenty-five years, you won't do that anymore." Daniëlle answered, half joking: "If that day ever comes, I'll go and sell sausages at the HEMA." The joke carried a serious promise: the day she could no longer care this much would be the day to do something else.
Nearly three decades later, that day has not come.

Today, Moalie makes refined knitwear and everyday essentials for newborns — from sleeping bags and snuggles to blankets and accessories. Every piece is made from natural materials, with fine merino wool at the heart of the collection: breathable, temperature-regulating and soft against delicate skin. All wool is mulesing-free, and the wool fibres we use are OEKO-TEX® certified. Selected pieces blend merino with cashmere for extra lightness and softness.
The collection is deliberately quiet: calm colours, timeless shapes, quality that outlasts a single season or a single child — a slow-fashion approach that suits the boutiques and concept stores we work with.
